Information that we collect from you

We may collect information contained in any correspondence, or any other interaction between you and us.

The details which you provide about yourself and any information which identifies you such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, country of residence and credit and debit card details ("Personal Information") will only be retained by us if you provide this information when using one of the services available on the Site, for example such as posting a message, subscribing to one of our email lists, or signing up for membership.

We limit the collection of personally identifiable user data to purposes which serve the well-being of the Site, including but not limited to the following:

To enhance the public accountability of their contributions. Theatre Profile recognises that any system that is open enough to allow the greatest possible participation of the general public will also be vulnerable to certain kinds of abuse and counterproductive behaviour. Theatre Profile has established a number of mechanisms to prevent or remedy abusive activities. For example, when investigating abuse on a Content, including the suspected use of malicious “sockpuppets” (duplicate accounts), vandalism, harassment of other users, or disruptive behaviour, and accounts of users may be used to identify the source(s) of the abusive behaviour.

To provide site statistics. Theatre Profile web analytic applications and other statistical gathering devices to gather as much information as possible on the usage of the site so that we can improve the user experience.

To solve technical problems. Log data may be examined by developers in the course of solving technical problems and in tracking down badly-behaved web spiders that overwhelm or damage the Site.

User contribution

User contributions are also aggregated and publicly available. User contributions are aggregated according to their registration and login status. 

Editing content

Edits to content pages are identified with the username or email address of the editor.  Any user-generated content can be contested or corrected by other editors and anyone visiting the site.

Collecting information about you

We may collect information about your computer and your visits to the Site and this may include your IP address, referrer URL (if provided), geographical location, browser type, length of visit and number of pages views.  We may use this information for a number of purposes such as optimising the use of the Site or for security purposes.  In particular, we may use an analytics service provider for website traffic analysis and reporting and to track information such as which browser, screen resolution and IP address you are using to access our website, in addition, to tracing your movements around our website.  We collect this information to help us diagnose problems and administer our systems and to audit the geographical make up of users and how they have arrived at our site; that is what other sites have visitors arrived – this information being obtained from the referrer URL. 

We do not normally link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that you remain anonymous even though we include your IP address in our aggregate information.  However, we can and will attempt to use IP addresses to identify a user when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our terms and conditions, or to protect our services and other users.

Use of your information

Content is primarily contributed by users. Some dedicated users are chosen to be given privileged access. For example, users who have been in the Theatre industry and have a track record for providing consistent accurate information are able to edit any non-claimed page with content that cannot be altered.

Opt-Out Policy

Communications. When you supply Theatre Profile with Personal Information, from time-to-time, you may be asked to indicate whether you are interested in receiving information from Theatre Profile, about special offers in connection with the Site, and/or our advertisers and partners. Unless you opt out to receive such communications, we may, from time to time, send you marketing communications.

If you no longer desire to receive the commercial email we send, you will be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving such messages in the future by clicking on the link at the bottom of the email that says "unsubscribe." Theatre Profile is not intended for use by children under the age of thirteen (13).
