Anton P. Chekhov

  • Male
  • A Russian short story writer, playwright and physician, considered to be one of the greatest short-story writers in the history of world literature. Born just when the serf’s gained freedom and raised in the rise of the merchant class, his career as a dramatist produced four classics and writers and critics hold his best short stories in high esteem. Some suggest there is a touch of Anton P. in each of Olenka’s amours. Chekhov practiced as a doctor throughout most of his literary career: “ Medicine is my lawful wife, “ he once said, “and literature is my mistress.” He was the uncle of Michael Chekhov.
